THE SATANS; This was my second band and one that I look back on with fond memories.(I started playing guitar at the tender age of 14!....) Pictured above in 1964 at Deal , (I had recently bought my first Fender Strat guitar) we had just won our way through a KENT MESSENGER local group competition to the finals, to be held at 'The St.Thomas's Hall' in Canterbury.(We came second overall in the final) From top, left to right.. Me, John Copeland, lower: Ray Fairbrass and 'Buster' Osmond. Ray re-married in 2003 and moved to France, I'd like to wish both him and Angela all the very best for the future...John and Buster are still rockin' with their band 'TRIED AND TESTED'.

On the left, The Satans.in 1964!..In November 1999 we re-formed with our original lead singer Tommy Savage, for a one-off gig at the Westgate hall in Canterbury to play with three other re-formed local bands to re-create the old 'City Youth' dances that were held in the 60's in Canterbury. It was a great success.

Due to the success of the Westgate Hall dance, it was decided that we would all like to do it again. So in September 2000, we reformed once again (without Tommy this time, who was on holiday) for a one-off show appearing with four other local 60's bands at The Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury. It was a concert, again in aid of a childrens charity. The concert raised lots of money and we all had a great evening. It was nice to see all my old mates yet again and to know that they were all still alive and breathing ...and rockin'...just about!!

The other four local bands involved at The Marlowe were: BEAT LTD., THE COUNTDOWNS, THE ROCK-A- BEATS and THE WAYS AND MEANS. All of them playing a great set to a really appreciative audience who packed the theatre.

Radio Kents Barbara Sturgeon and East Enders star Shaun Williamson did the intro's and links. Dave Lee played drums with his old band 'The Ways and Means' . Phil Hadler from the now closed FSC Music in Tankerton, supplied the back line amplifiers once again, (cheers Phil) he also headed his old 60's band The Rock a Beats .. Also thanks to my son Sean and 'BIG' John for being stage roadies for the evening. A lot of people worked very hard that day, too many to list here but thanks to all of them. It was great for all of us to have the opportunity to play in our local theatre! -
