NOW N' THEN 1981-1986

We started out as a three piece rock n' roll band playing covers ranging from

'Eddie Cochran to Dave Edmonds' style music.

Mick Gold and I formed the band whilst playing in 'Cascade.'

Buster Osmond was originally on drums.

We toured the clubs and pubs. We recorded a version of

Buddy Holly's 'It's so easy' in 1984 and it was played regularly

on local radio at the time. Mick and I shared Bass

and lead guitar during our stage set. Sound and lighting man was Pat Solly,

who also acted as our agent. Later Fred Belfield also kindly helped out on sound

and loaned us additional P.A. speakers and sound equipment.

... At first 'Now N Then' were an additional 'side' band to our main band 'Cascade' ,

playing on weekdays and Sundays in pubs

ocasionally - (now and then) - when we had spare dates.

Buster found this too much and so he was replaced

by ex 'Apley Rise' drummer Cliff Langtree.

Soon after, Mick and I left 'Cascade' to concentrate fully

on promoting 'Now N Then'.....

   1985.

We were joined in this year by keyboard player Alan Hoare, and held this line-up for over two years. We played larger gigs supporting such acts as Brian Poole, (who offered us the job of becoming his backing band! His band 'The Black Cats' were splitting up. We declined the offer, due to work commitments.) Also we worked with, The Fortunes, Everly Brothers, Rockin' Berries, Seachers. Vanity Fare and many more, including a show at 'The Leas Cliff Hall' in Folkestone for charity in aid of Africa called 'Kent for Africa' organised by musicians from Folkestone, an idea relating to the Bob Geldof's 'Live Aid' concerts at that time, headed by Gary Dean and associates. It was a big task for them and it turned out to be a great day. There were many local bands performing throughout the afternoon and evening. Gary Deans own band, plus The Maroon Dogs featuring the late Bob Scott (sadly missed), Stevie Dan, Beatles for Sale, and just too many other great local bands to mention.

This was 'Now n' Then' at their peak..We had a good run up until early 1988.. Alan left the band and we decided on a different format and name....
